Hello, Welcome to the Nicks-Kin group at yahoogroups.com. Please take a moment to review this message. To start sending messages to members of this group, simply send email to Nicks-Kin@yahoogroups.com If you do not wish to belong to Nicks-Kin, you may unsubscribe by sending an email to Nicks-Kin-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com You will be informed that you may participate in the Nicks-kin@yahoogroups.com (or @eGroups.com, both are the same) without requesting a Yahoo i.d. Most of our list members have opted NOT to request the Yahoo i.d. (and a number who tried never succeeded). So there is no need for you to request the Yahoo i.d. ============================================ The name of this mailing list is: Nicks-Kin@Yahoogroups.com The purpose of the group remains the same: To cooperatively investigate the ramifications of being (or probably so) the descendents of Nicholas Rob*son, b. c1666. The list will be private, meaning among other things, that I (or Tom Robertson) must approve any new request for membership on the list. It also means that the list archives will only be viewable by list members. It will, as before, not be the purpose of the list to "sell" the idea of being descended from NR to the unconvinced. Each researcher is their own judge and jury on this matter. List membership is not invited for those whose *only* participation will be to oppose descendance from NR, since that would be counter to the reason for the existence of the list. That being said, differing viewpoints will be encouraged. In general, those being invited to join the list are researchers (who are positive to consideration of such descendence) among - the descendents of siblings Mathew Robertson/James "Horse Shoe" Robertson/David Robertson - those of Col. Charles Robertson of Watauga TN - those of Israel Rob*son of Granville Co. NC - those of Gen. James Robertson of TN - those of John Robinson b. c1700 (m. Mary Evans?) and their relatives. I hope you will join us, and will suggest other cousins who would be interested. You either have or will receive a separate invitation to join the MyFamily site associated with the Nicks-kin mailing list. We recommend that you do so. Our members have had no problems getting on the MyFamily site. That is where list messages will be archived periodically and various shared files (lineages, gedcoms, etc.) will be available.
