Unsolicited responses to posting of "1st Annual Kings Mountain Forum" on the AMERICAN-REVOLUTION-L mailing list. ==================================== Thank you for a _very_ enlightening account from the "Kings Mountain Forum". I found it interesting, both on the Rev. War level and that of having early ancestors in NC who I am just now searching for more details on. You certainly have a round of applause from me! ------------------------------------ Thank you for the very interesting summary of the forum speakers. It was great reading and I appreciate the time and thoughtfulness you put into it. The forum sounded exceptional. I'm so glad that YOU attended and were kind enough to report to those who couldn't! ------------------------------------ Thanks for the report. I enjoyed the information. I was unable to make it this year from Seattle, maybe next year. ------------------------------------ Thank you so much, John, for your notification of the King's Mtn. events. Again thanks for the Sat. report on the event. We were so sorry that we only got the message on Thu. night - too late to change work schedules--! I notified a number of my Rev. friends who were also interested. We all had grandparent + who fought there or around there. We love to spend time at Kings MTN. . ----------------------------------- Please keep me informed personally of any information about this, area events or the Rev. that you have available. I probably had a grandparent that lived very near here. Can't find him/her yet. I have others who came from other areas not too far away. ----------------------------------- Great articles on this meeting. Can the dates for next year be announced in advanced? Would love to attend. Thank you. Just wanted you to know that I very much appreciated your rendition of the day at KM. Thank you from one who could not make it! ----------------------------------- Question - Is this an annual affair on the last Sunday in August? I know I won't be able to make the one next year, but in a couple of years, I should be able to..... and really want to be there once at least. I have some Camp ancestors who fought there. Would you know how I could get in touch with Sam Thomas? I would very much like to get a copy of his latest work as I have Scots-Irish ancestors who I first find in NC. Thanks for posting all of this. Great info! ----------------------------------- Thank you so much for posting this ... I enjoyed it so much, I'm printing for future reference. Now I'd really like to attend next August but with a teenager in school by that date -- and 1,500 miles in between, I'll have to rely on you to give us a report since more of my ancestors were in SC (not NC) during the RW. ----------------------------------- I would very much like to have it and also Dr Bobby Moss' The Loyalists At Kings Mountain if it is available. Getting it here is possible but not easy. I really appreciated your report on the Sat event. I am one of the guilty who knew almost nothing of the War in the south until I started on the Gray family history. Problem of growing up next to "The Boston States" as it was known "down home" ------------------------------------------ Thanks for the info. Really appreciate it. Hope maybe we'll meet up one of these years in the not too distant future at a KM get-together! ------------------------------------------ A great report on Kings Mountain!! Thanks for all the good information! Many of my forebears were in the militia in NC and SC and it is good to hear them given recognition for their efforts. Will there be another meeting next year? ------------------------------------------ Thanks for taking the chance. It was very interesting. ------------------------------------------ Thank you for the excellent review. I wish we could have been there. Again, thank you for the review. Had we known in plenty of time, we would have been at this site. I hope we can keep up with things enough to go there next year. ----------------------------------------- John, thanks so much for the "recap". I enjoyed it very much - no matter IF.. it was "colored" by your own hearing. I think you did a great job and gave us back something - even if we couldn't attend. I have copied your two emails and passed them around VIA email. It has now gone to the professors at the local college - they requested it. It is now on its way to California and the circuit. They are SAR/DAR interested also. Thanks again, Keep us posted.
